New Layout and Cycling

Ok so you maybe noticing a new layout. If not, then you haven’t been here in a long time. Not to worry neither have I. I am still working on the site so bear with me.

I am posting on here today about Cycling.

Yeah I’ve never actually owned a bike… unless you count a Huffy when I was like 8. I thought it was an awesome trick bike but turns out it was just a cheap bike from K-Mart. After I got my license I remember thinking to myself, “I will never again need a bike”. Well for a little less than a year now I have been doing some running. Completed a half marathon and running to me has become overrated and boring. Unless I have a 10k or a marathon scheduled or an objective to accomplish my discipline to train is around 3 – 6 miles and maybe once or twice a week. And is on the verge of becoming obsolete.

I have set my mind to replacing these workouts with cycling. What do I know about cycling?? Absolutely nothing. But here is a recent picture of my friend Allen Mayer who has perked my interest to the idea. (ladies he’s single). I’ve been talking with my friends and visited some bike stores to educate myself on the idea. The thing that I am starting to like about running is that the upfront costs were about $250ish…
$130 Running Shoes
$30 Insoles
$35 running shorts
$25 running shirts
$3.99 nipple chaffing precaution (vasoline)

The costs of cycling…
$800 Step above a beginners bike
$60 for pedals
$60 for shoes
$150 for a trainer (to bike indoors)
$80 Bike shorts
$23.95 Lance Armstrong Training DVD. ($74.99 with autograph)

ROUGHLY $1,250 USD!
Comforting words from the bike store salesman, “Dude it’s not like Golf where you go and spend a lot of money and then have to continue to spend a lot of money to keep playing”. Yeah because if I invest in a bicycle I will have virtually zero money to ever play golf.

Surprisingly my motivation to continue running to stay in shape has increased. Enjoy the picture of Allen. You have no idea how hilarious that night was.

Did you ask Dave about this new hobby? Brandt can show you how to ride a bike for $0. And he'll probably let you borrow his.
