Compassion

Well today was a big day for me and not just for me. For a friend of mine named Ronald Muwagga. I was going through my budget and saw a few things that I need to do with out. For example my subscription to Sports Illustrated and my subscription to Xbox live (playing football and golf online). Yeah these things had to go. Instead I took the funds that I allocated to pointless hobbies and used it for something that will actually make a difference in someone’s life. I watched the video below.

I was taken. Anyone that knows me knows that I am adopting a few kids sooner or later and sponsoring a child is just one step closer to that. I went to the Compassion International Website and started looking around I saw that they have put a lot of work into making it very easy for you to sponsor a child.

Actually I felt like I was online shopping. I had no clue where to start. I wanted to sponsor them all. So instead of picking the kid most likely to go to the NFL or the kid with the fastest 40 time... I just started praying and looking for kids with the biggest need.

I am passionate about Africa and I’m going back there in 2010, so I thought I’ll sponsor one from there and I will be able to visit him when I get over there. I knew I wanted a male. I started looking and reading their bios. I figured out that there are kids living with both mom and dad. So I wanted a kid living with only mom or a grandmother. I found one kid named “Excellent” and I really wanted to go with him but simply because of his name. Then I found Ronald Muwagga. He lives with his grandmother in Uganda and lives in an AIDS environment. Here is his actual bio…
Ronald Muwagga
Birthday: December 4, 2002
Age: 6
Gender: Male
Region: Africa
Country: Uganda
Program: Kyanamugera Child Development Center

Personal and Family Information:
In his home, Ronald helps by gathering firewood, washing clothes and helping in the kitchen. He lives with his grandmother. His grandmother is sometimes employed as a laborer. There are 8 children in the family.

For fun, Ronald enjoys singing, reading and playing group games. He attends church activities regularly and is in primary school where his performance is average.

Because of your sponsorship, Ronald will have new opportunities to learn and grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. Thank you for your concern and prayers.

Now I want you to understand I am not blogging about this to brag or boast. I am blogging about this raise awareness. The cost is only $38.00 a month. That is ONE NIGHT OF DINNER AND MOVIE. I plan on sponsoring Ronald until Compassion will no longer allow him a sponsor, which I believe is 18. I pumped and so excited about the opportunities only $38.00 a month will open for Ronald.

Think about it.

SO great! I started sponsoring a little girl from Kenya with Compassion this past fall - it has been a blessing! They send you cute little notes/drawings every few months - and you can write them too.
